Paragon System Recovery provides rapid and efficient recovery alternatives: "Standard" or "Customized", to start system and data recovery, you can use one of the following scenarios:

Standard Solution can be integrated into the production cycle WITHOUT any significant alteration of the production workflow. For example, it can be the very last step before putting the PC into box.

Customized solution offers the possibility to integrate the Paragon System Recovery installation or its initial backup into the production cycle. There are several templates for customized scenarios, but it is supposed, that every system builder will have some certain demands.

Standard Scenarios

PSR CD Based Solution

1. Creating the Recovery CD/DVD by Using an Auxiliary PC (Backup of Second HDD)

Install the Windows, carry out all the test and prepurchase arrangements with the system.
Connect the system HDD, which has to be backed up as a secondary device to an auxiliary Windows-based computer and boot the system from the primary hard disk.
Copy the folder WINPEPSRBUILDER\CD\PSR to the hard disk and launch the Backup Wizard: (WINPEPSRBUILDER\CD\PSR\BACKUP\backup.exe)
Select a partition/HDD to back up
Select a CD/DVD-ROM drive or a CD/DVD Emulator to create ISO Image of the Recovery CD/DVD
Mark the option 'Backup Now' and burn the Recovery CD (create ISO Image)

2. Creating the Recovery CD/DVD by Using the Win PE CD

Install the Windows, carry out all the test and prepurchase arrangements with the system.
Prepare WinPE CD by using WINPEPSRBUILDER\CD\PSR folder (see the instructions in the PSR CD Based Solution manual). The main executable file (Backup Wizard) is WINPEPSRBUILDER\CD\PSR\BACKUP\backup.exe
Connect a second CD/DVD burner device
Boot from the WinPE CD
After launching the Backup Wizard select a partition/HDD to back up
Select a CD/DVD-ROM drive
Mark the option 'Backup Now' and burn Recovery CD

3. Restoring From the Recovery CD/DVD

Boot from the Recovery CD/DVD
Select the DOS or Linux environment to restore the system. In case you need external devices support select Linux. It is preferable to use more reliable DOS environment to work with standard devices.
After your confirmation the partition (HDD) will be restored.

Attention! The partition will always be restored to the FIRST hard disk even if the backup was performed for a partition of the SECOND hard disk.

PSR HDD Based Solution

4. Scenario of Using an Auxiliary PC (Backup of Second HDD)

Prepare a Hard Disk to be cloned on the Master computer, carry out the final testing and reseal the computer for end-users.
Connect the system HDD, which has to be backed up as a secondary device to an auxiliary Windows-based computer and boot the system from the auxiliary computer.
Install the Exact Image module (file ei70-en.exe).
After launching the Exact Image you will be asked to create a Backup Capsule, click ‘Yes’ to do it.
Select the secondary system HDD to back up. Change size of the Backup Capsule if necessary and confirm the operation of creation.
In the Main GUI select a partition (or entire HDD in the Full version) to back up and click ‘Backup hard disk or selected partitions’ in the left-side menu.
The Backup Wizard will be started, select ‘Save data to the Backup Capsule’ and perform the operation.
After Backing Up, disconnect the Master HDD and clone it for end users
Together with the computers is delivered the standard Recovery CD from Paragon.

5. Scenario of Using the WinPE CD - Paragon System Recovery HDD Based Solution

Prepare a Hard Disk to be cloned on the Master computer, carry out the final testing and reseal the computer for end-users.
Prepare the WinPE CD with files from EIFiles.zip. The main executable file is Program\exactimage.exe
After launching the Exact Image you will be asked to create Backup Capsule, click ‘Yes’ to do it.
Select the secondary system HDD to back up. Change size of the Backup Capsule if necessary and confirm the operation of creation.
In the Main GUI select a partition (or entire HDD in the Full version) to back up and click ‘Backup hard disk or selected partitions’ in the left-side menu.
The Backup Wizard will be started, select ‘Save data to the Backup Capsule’ and perform the operation
Together with the computers is delivered the standard Recovery CD from Paragon.

6. Restoring by Using the Standard Recovery CD/DVD (the Archive is in the Backup Capsule)

Boot from the Recovery CD/DVD
Select the DOS or Linux environment to restore the system. In case you need external devices support select Linux. It is preferable to use more reliable DOS environment to work with standard devices.

After your confirmation the partition (HDD) from the Backup Capsule will be restored.

Custom Scenarios Examples

HDD Based Solution. Backup before 'mini setup' from WinPE CD/DVD or by using an auxiliary PC (backup of second HDD). Restore by booting from a hidden partition on HDD. Recovery CD/DVD doesn't contain the archive - the archive on HDD is always used to restore.

HDD + CD Based Solution. Integration with Sysprep. Backup and Recovery CD/DVD creation (with the archive) before 'mini setup'. Restore by booting from hidden a partition on HDD or from the Recovery CD/DVD.
HDD Based Solution. Integration with Sysprep. Backup after ‘Mini Setup’ process on the end-user site.
HDD Based Solution. Integration with Sysprep. Backup before ‘mini setup’. Restore by booting from a hidden partition on HDD. Recovery CD/DVD doesn’t contain the archive – the archive on HDD is always used to restore.
HDD Based Solution. Backup or/and Recovery CD/DVD creation is performed by End-User himself.
